Full Time Primary Class
Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm
The Montessori environment contains specially designed, manipulative, "materials for development," that invite children to engage in learning activities of their own choice. Under the guidance of their trained teacher, children in a Montessori classroom learn by making discoveries with the materials, cultivating concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning. It is an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child – physical, social, emotional and cognitive. Primary students are between the ages of 2.5 and 6 years of age.
The advantage of Montessori instruction five days a week is enormous. Many families find that students are capable beyond what they might have imagined.
A few details about the class day:
Each student brings a morning snack for themselves.
Students are asked to bring their own lunch daily.
A nap, or rest period, is an option and takes place daily after lunch. Napping items are brought with the student on Monday and returned Friday for laundering.
Outdoor and large motor skills have a huge impact not only on student's growth, but also on their ability to receive and retain information confidently. Each class includes at least one outdoor play time, barring a storm, and two if the student is not napping.
Students in the full time program are eligible to tack on before and/or after school care.
BEFORE & After care
Students enrolled in a full time program have the option of registering for before and/or after school care. This allows children to arrive at Cornerstone as early as 6:30am and stay as late as 5:30pm. Drop in opportunities are available as well if calling the school to confirm their is space.
